About Trip:

The Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan “known as the peaceful Dragon country” is slowly emerging from centuries of self imposed isolation, this makes Bhutan a truly unique destination to explore its hidden treasure of ancient culture, religion, architecture and its way of life as it was for centuries, so Bhutan’s past is still its present and tantric Buddhism is a way of life.

Outline itinerary

Day 1:Arrive Kathmandu

Day 2:Half Day Sightseeing Tour

Day 3:Fly Kathmandu-Paro: Scenic, spectacular flight to Paro on arrival received by our representative in a traditional way and drive to Hotel Gangtey Palace or similar.

Day 4:Paro sightseeing: Morning hike up to the Taksang Monastery (Tiger’s nest). Afternoon visit the 17th centuary Ta-Dzong, later converted into the National Museum in 1967. Overnight in Paro.

Day 5:Paro-Thimphu: 2 hr drive to Thimphu (54km), the modern capital of Bhutan. Check in at Hotel Taksang or similar. After lunch visit the memorial stupa, indigenous Hospital, where traditional medicine is still practiced and the painting school. Overnight at

Day 6:Thimphu-Tongsa (129km): Drive to Tongsa via Duchulu pass (3050m) The drive takes you via Pele-la pass (3,150m) also before Tongsa. Overnight at Tourist Lodge or similar.

Day 7:Tongsa-Bumthang: hours drive to Bumthang (68 km), afternoon visit the 17th centaury Jakar Dzong, now used as Administration centre for Bumthang Valley. Overnight at Tarnshing Lodge.

Day 8:Jakkar-Ngang Lhakhang 2900m: Trek begins from here following the Chamkhar chu-river and many villages and temples, a pleasant 6 hr walking day. Overnight Tented Camp.

Day 9:Ngang Lhakhang-Ugyenchholing 2850m via Phephe-la 3340m: Trek and descend to Tang Valley, finally arriving at Ugyenchholing village for the overnight camp after a 7-8 hrs walk.

Day 10:Drive to Jakar 3-4hr Ride : Morning at leisure to visit the Dzong and the surrounding village and drive to Jaker following the Tang chu river, on the way visit the religious Member Tso-lake. Arrive at Tamshing lodge for the overnight.

Day 11:Afternoon drive to Tongsa(68km):Morning free at leisure, after lunch drive to Tongsa. Overnight at Tourist lodge or similar.

Day 12:Drive to Thimphu (198km) Drive to Thimphu via Punakha, the old capital of Bhutan. On arrival at Thimphu Overnight stay at Hotel Taksang or similar.

Day 13:Early morning drive to Paro Airport for the the flight back to Kathmandu. Flight from Kathmandu/Delhi are on Monday & Thursday only.The above itinerary includes full board tour and treks and accommodation on the best available Hotels in Paro, Thimphu and
